Here are a few tips for using a straight razor:

Don’t wipe the blade with your fingers. It hastens the rapid oxidation of the carbon steel.

Store your blade dry after each use. Otherwise you risk the deterioration of the blade and the handle.

Every now and then spread a little bit of Vaseline-type jelly on the blade to maintain its condition.

You can sharpen the blade itself when necessary, if you have the know-how, but it is wiser to entrust that task to a professional in order not to risk dulling or damaging the blade.
